At the request of the organizers of the GMIC (Global Mobile Internet Conference), which will be held in Silicon Valley in the coming December, App Annie has prepared an infographic with the resounding title “Mobilizing the next 5 billion”, reflecting how much the downloads and revenues of the mobile application market have grown in three central market segments from the 3rd quarter of 2013 to the 3rd quarter of 2014.

App Annie - мобилизируя следующие 5 млрд

What are the market segments?

Everything is simple here. App Annie conventionally divides the part of the mobile application market of interest into three groups. The first is the leaders (superpower), which include Japan, South Korea and the United States. The second group is developing countries (BRIC): Brazil, Russia, India and China (the latter is about to move to the Superman league, by the way). The third “set” is the regions that App Annie analysts recommend to take a closer look at (Markets to watch): Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey and Vietnam (although for some reason there is no Taiwan).

And so, coming from a similar market segmentation, App Annie calculated how significantly the indicators of each of the groups have grown over the past year.

Markets to watch “jumped” the most significantly in terms of downloads. During the reporting period, they have grown 1.6 times. But the BRIC countries showed the best growth in terms of income – 2.2 times (thanks to China). However, in any case, in terms of downloads and revenue, both of them are still far from the market leaders.
