Ubisoft earns the most money on the PC. This is reported in the company’s financial report for April-June of this year. The Anno 1800 economic strategy became the driver of good sales on personal computers.

Anno 1800
Yesterday, Ubisoft reported on the first quarter of the fiscal year, which started for the company in April.

The quarter ended moderately well. On the one hand, Ubisoft earned €44 million more than it predicted in May. On the other hand, sales still turned out to be €67 million less than a year ago.

The reason for the drop in sales to €314 million is the complete absence of action novelties in the quarter. A year ago, April-June saw the launch of Far Cry 5 and The Crew 2. This year, a game of a completely different plan was “blown away” for them — Anno 1800.

From the economic strategy about building a trading empire in the 19th century, something extra big could not be expected in Ubisoft. After all, the two previous parts – Anno 2070 and Anno 2205 — were received both by users and the press with restraint.

However, this time the scenario developed differently. The new Anno, launched so far only in Uplay and Epic Games Store, showed a record sales figure at the start and record user engagement (not a word about this in the reports, but the game also had at least 500 thousand pre-orders on Steam).

Such interest in the game significantly affected the overall economic performance of the company. At the end of the quarter, Ubisoft’s share of PC sales rose to 34%. This is more than any other platform brings to the company’s piggy bank.

By the way, the market of economic construction strategies cannot be called oversaturated. Despite the regular release of games in the main series (Tropico, Anno, Planet) and the periodic appearance of new names, there are still not so many offers.
