The largest American electronic store has announced the second generation of the Fire TV set-top box, as well as its gaming version, complete with a gamepad.

Amazon анонсировала игровую комплектацию Fire TV

Amazon showed its first set-top box a little more than a year ago – in April 2014. It was a response to Apple TV, which had already conquered the American market by that time. The key difference between the Amazon device and the Apple set-top box a year ago was that the Fire TV allowed you to play games. The user could purchase a special gamepad and download from the Amazon Appstore one of more than a hundred games that support it (including Deus Ex: The Fall, Anomaly 2 and Rayman Fiesta Run).

Now, after the announcement of Apple TV, which also supports games, Amazon not only announced the second generation of Fire TV, which, according to a press release, is 75% more powerful than the previous one and offers to stream videos in 4K resolution, but also announced plans to launch its gaming version on sale.

The gaming Fire TV will differ from the usual one by the presence in the box of a controller – gamepad, reminiscent of the Xbox 360, a 32 GB microSD card, as well as two games – Shovel Knight (as far as we understand, this is Amazon-exclusive among other mobile platforms or platforms that are built on mobile solutions) and Disney’s Ducktales: Remastered. Judging by the materials of the press release, it will also be possible to play Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic on the console.

New versions of Fire TV will be available on October 5. The price of Fire TV as standard will be $ 99, and its game interpretation will cost users $ 140. For comparison, the price of the new Apple TV with 32 GB will be $149.
