During the week of global promotion on Google Play, the game from the Russian developer Pixonic received a million downloads.
This was announced on his Facebook page by the executive director of the studio Igor Klyukin.
According to him, at the beginning of 2016, the game War Robots (at that time Walking War Robots) was included in the list of projects promoted by Google globally. The game was in the collection of new and updated games (according to App Annie, the game had neither a large nor a small banner) from January 14 to 21.
January 14th last year fell on Thursday. The peak of installations (168 thousand per day) was on Saturday.
The feature had a positive effect on daily downloads. Before him, the game was downloaded, on average, 18 thousand times a day, “after the feature, this number gradually decreased from 35 thousand to 20 thousand for a long time.”
At the same time, Igor did not find a drop in the quality of downloads: “The quality of installations with mass production can sink. I looked at the retention for those dates – there is something, but I did not notice a strong drawdown.”
War Robots is the main blockbuster of Moscow Pixonic (there is also an office in Berlin). Total downloads of the game exceed 20 million. In May last year, the company reported that it earned $1.3 million in April 2016. In October 2016, the company was acquired by the Internet giant Mail.Ru Group for $30 million.
