According to the Strategy Analytics report, the Korean company accounted for 95% of the total revenue from sales of Android smartphones in the first quarter of 2013.

Since the introduction of Android in 2007, more than 900 million smartphones using Google’s OS have been released. Hardly anyone doubted that the lion’s share of the number of sales falls on Samsung, which did not leave the lot of HTC, LG and Sony. However, who could have guessed how much Samsung would capture the market. According to Strategy Analytics, in the first three months of this year, the Korean company earned 95% of all money coming from the sales of Google phones.

So, the total sales of Android handsets amounted to $5.3 billion for the reporting period. Of these, Samsung received $5.1 billion. due to the sales of Android smartphones.

In second place in terms of revenue is another Korean company – LG, which accounted for 2.5% of the market. The remaining 2.7% was divided among other manufacturers. These data suggested to Neil Mawston, director of Strategy Analytics, that Samsung earns more on Android than Google itself.

In turn, for developers, this means only one thing so far: if we do it under Google Play, we need to test, first of all, on the line of devices from Samsung.
