DeNA has released tower defense in the Star Wars universe.
This is the third major mobile game release based on this IP over the past year.
It took place against the backdrop of the closure of a number of other Star Wars mobile games, namely Star Wars: Assault Team, also released this year, and Tiny Death Star from NimbleBit. What was the reason for the closure of the latter is unclear.
Among the latest novelties so far is a clone of Clash of Clans – Star Wars: Commander, released by Disney this summer.
Star Wars: Galactic Defense, developed within the walls of DeNA, like Commander, thematically repels from the original trilogy, although stylistically closer to the animated series Star Wars: Rebels, rather than the stricter drawing of SWC.
In terms of Galactic Defense, this is a thoroughly transplanted free-to-play Kingdom Rush.
