The Chinese corporation Tencent has promised to introduce time limits for underage players in the Honor of Kings mobile MOBA.
Children under 12 years old will be able to play no more than an hour a day, and teenagers from 12 to 18 years old — no more than two hours.
Tencent also plans to ban users under the age of 12 from logging into the game after 9 p.m.
In order to implement control, the company intends to impose an obligation on customers to indicate their real name and surname when registering. Owners of accounts with false data are equated in rights to children under 12 years of age.
Honor of Kings is played by more than 200 million people, most of whom are in China.
According to the Chinese analyst company Jiguang, more than half of the game’s audience is under 24 years old, and more than a quarter are under 19 years old.
According to the App Annie service, in May of this year, Honor of Kings became the highest-grossing mobile game in the world, earning $84 million in a month.
