Rating service GitHyp drew attention to the attendance of the heroic shooter Quake Champions, which appeared in early access Steam in August 2017. The multiplayer action movie from the legendary id Software company started very modestly, gathering a maximum online of 2.4 thousand players.

For comparison, the failed heroic shooters LawBreakers from Boss Key Productions and Battleborn from Gearbox Software launched on Steam more successfully. The peak attendance of LawBreakers was 7.5 thousand players, and Battleborn was able to gather more than 12 thousand gamers online.
According to Steam Spy, the number of Quake Champions owners on Steam does not exceed 200 thousand people, which is very small for a project on the famous shooter franchise. About 500 thousand users have LawBreakers in Steam libraries, and Sergey Galenkin’s service estimates the number of Battleborn owners at approximately 1 million people.
Recall that LawBreakers and Battleborn closed, unable to compete with Overwatch and the leaders of the “battle royale” genre in the face of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS and Fortnite.
Unlike Gearbox Software and Boss Key (currently closed), the publisher of Quake Champions, Bethesda, is not in a hurry to liquidate its online project yet. In early May 2018, Bethesda announced an update that will allow gamers to play against computer-controlled bots.
