What we remember about E3, why we should wait for The Elder Scrolls on mobile, what we wrote last week, – says the editor-in-chief App2Top.ru .
The main gaming event of last week was, of course, E3. Despite the fact that mobile phones were not in high esteem there until recently, now the situation has begun to change. And there is nothing to be surprised about: everyone is just tired of wrinkling their noses and agreed that mobile is serious and forever.
Moreover, how effectively a large hardcore brand and a mobile can work together, the gaming industry was clearly convinced exactly after the first presentation timed to E3. Of course, I am referring to the magnificent performance of Bethesda, which, after talking in detail about Fallout 4, demonstrated a shareware time manager in the universe of the game. By Wednesday, Fallout Shelter, which is exactly the name of the novelty, threw Candy Crush Saga out of the Top 3 cash games in the App Store (now everything has changed, but this is a completely different story).
Most likely, after that we should definitely wait for more similar projects, otherwise only Warner Bros. successfully worked in this field (the development of a full-fledged mobile game, which is being promoted due to the success of the console title). And I’m sure Bethesda itself is already thinking about whether they should create something mobile in The Elder Scrolls universe.
E3 also pleased with the massive announcement of numerous ports. The trend of porting games from consoles and PCs is old, but there is a feeling that everything is going to appear, let’s say, retroactively, the entire golden game library and on mobile. It is clear that in most cases it will not be very (or not at all) playable, but who cares about it today (Bioshock is for iOS, you probably bought everything, despite the fact that it is scary, slow and generally a shooter on sensors). Now we are sitting and waiting for Titan Quest, Final Fantasy VII and Torchlight.
If we move away from E3, then last week Return Path analysts were unpleasantly surprised to find that the number of payments in Clash of Clans, Candy Crush Saga and Game of War is rapidly decreasing, as well as the number of players paying in them.
At the same time, the guys cheerfully report that there is no need to worry, the average check has grown. But, indeed, if less loyal users have started to leave the games, it is logical that there are more loyal users in relation to the total number. That is, the share of those who spend a lot is increasing, but it cannot be called a positive trend in any way. The death of free-to-play or are users just tired of games that are over two years old?
The people of Kiev from Loadme pleased us under the heading “Who is who”. The guys told how much time and money it took them to develop a cute pirate step-by-step project with a construction part. The rest of the interview turned out to be brief, but curious, read it. Plus, if you are ready to talk about your own experience, feel free to write (we answer, to be honest, not immediately, we do not have time to react instantly, but once a week we can and should definitely be pinged again).
We also wrote a lot about the Indie Game Cup 2015 (and we will be back this week), translated a large and boring, but important App Annie report about the dynamics of mobile games, and also posted a note with a cool video in which the author of Super Mario Bros. he told me how he made the game 30 years ago.
Phew… I don’t seem to have forgotten anything important.
And, this week we will be at two conferences at once – first in Amsterdam at Unite, then in St. Petersburg at White Nights. There will be interviews, reports, maybe we can even manage to do something big based on motives, we’ll see.
Actually, everyone, have a good working week!
