Another big purchase from Playtika. An Israeli company has acquired the studio Seriously. The latter is known from the Best Fiends series.
Officially, the amount of the transaction is not reported, but it may amount to $ 275 million, according to VentureBeat. It also reports that the company’s revenue rate for this year has already exceeded $ 100 million. Recall that last year the studio earned $ 69 million on three projects.
“They are well versed in technology, performance marketing, analytics and operations. It’s not just impressive, these are the areas where we would like to scale,” commented Andrew Stalbow, CEO and co—founder of Seriously, on the sale of the studio.
For Playtika, which itself specializes in social casinos, this is far from the first acquisition. Since its foundation in 2010, it has acquired at least six studios. Recent purchases include Wooga (2018) and Solitaire Grand Harvest (2019).
“This acquisition [the purchase of Seriously, — Ed.] brings us closer to the goal of becoming the largest Western—oriented mobile gaming company,” explains the eventRobert Antokol, founder of Playtika.
The reservation about orientation to the West is not accidental. In 2016, Playtika was outbid by a Chinese consortium led by Giant Interactive for $4.4 billion.
