Valve has released an iOS version of the Steam Link app. Streaming of Steam games on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV has now become available.

Apple has updated the rules for publishing applications in the App Store. According to the updated policy, in order to be placed in the official Apple store, programs should not allow users to buy content outside the App Store. Failure to comply with this condition did not allow Valve to release the Steam Link game streaming application in the App Store.

Apple’s senior vice President of Marketing Phil Schiller explained why Valve’s app for launching games on mobile devices from Steam was not allowed in the App Store.

Owners of Apple mobile devices will not be able to play titles from the Steam library on them through the Steam Link streaming application. Apple has not allowed Valve to place the Steam Link in the App Store, according to the publication Venture Beat.
