Rockstar really planned to release remasters of Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV. However, for now the studio has decided to abandon this idea and fully focus on the sixth part of its main franchise.

The release of a trilogy of remasters of classic GTA turned into a failure. User ratings on Metacritic dropped to 0.5/10 — one of the worst results in history. Players complain massively about bugs, the depressing technical condition of the project and demand a refund. At the same time, remasters were unavailable for launch for three days.

On the occasion of the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition producer Rockstar spoke about the creation of remasters and the difficulties encountered in the process. The team wanted to preserve the spirit of classic titles. However, it lost part of the source code, as a result of which the developers had to make a number of compromises and tricks.
