Three years after the release of Toon Blast, the sequel to the popular match game Toy Blast, continues to grow. To date, the title has not only overtaken its predecessor in revenue, but also earned the first billion dollars.

While some are looking for new ways of game monetization, others continue to earn steadily on midcore games. The revenues of the German studio Goodgame Studios have crossed the $1 billion mark since the company was founded in 2009.

66 companies earned the first million dollars on mobile apps in 2016 in the American App Store. This is almost twice as much as Google Play, where there were 39 of them.
