In the first quarter of 2013, the number of total downloads of the four leading stores crossed the mark of 13.4 billion, the analytical company Canalys reported.
This is 11% more than there were downloads by the end of 2012. Also, in the first three months of this year, the App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Store and BlackBerry World earned $2.2 billion on mobile applications. This is 9% more than they earned in October-December 2012. Yes, the App Store accounted for 74% of this amount. But Google Play is responsible for 51% of downloads.
As Canalys reported in December, 50% of all profits are shared by 25 companies, the latter include Rovio, Zynga, Electronic Arts and Disney. In November 2012 alone, they earned $60 million, the second $60 million came from all other companies represented on the market.
