The coronavirus forced Apple to make allowances for iOS developers. They were given more time to migrate applications to the current iOS 13 SDK.

Last September, Apple released the newest version of its OC — iOS 13. It contains a number of new features, including Apple Sign In and Dark Mode. The company announced that from April 2020 it will publish new apps in the store only based on the iOS 13 SDK. The same applies to updates to already released applications.

However, in February — March of this year, many teams went to remote work due to the coronavirus. They may need additional time to migrate new games and applications to the current SDK. Therefore, Apple has moved the deadline to June 30, 2020.

It also reminds:

  • Apps on the iOS 13 SDK must support Xcode storyboards and any screen sizes of iPhone and iPad;
  • programs for Apple Watch should be based on the watchOS 6 SDK;
  • Apps for children and/or using HTML5 must meet the updated requirements of the iOS Developer Guide.
