The US government is still unable to make progress in blocking WeChat. The magistrate’s court ruled that the actions of the authorities would be a direct violation of freedom of speech, and therefore the messenger will continue to work in the United States.Judge Laurel Beeler responded to the Trump administration’s motion to lift the preliminary ban on blocking WeChat.

According to her, the government has not provided new evidence that the messenger’s work poses a threat to US national security.

Bieler noted that the arguments of the presidential administration do not negate the fact that the WeChat ban is a violation of the right to freedom of speech of the application users (in particular, it was about Chinese-speaking Americans).

At the same time, the injunction is still preliminary. Thus, WeChat will remain in American stores at least until the next hearing on the case.

Meanwhile, the US government continues to fight TikTok. The next hearing will take place on November 4.
