Rambler Group no longer has any claims to the Twitch streaming platform. The Russian company withdrew the claim for $2.9 billion.
This is reported by the Financial Post with reference to Twitch. The service noted that they did not demand financial compensation from him. And Rambler no longer plans to seek Twitch blocking, because the latter has deleted all illegal content.
Recall that Rambler wanted to collect a huge sum from Twitch for streaming English Premier League matches on the platform. The broadcast rights belong to the Rambler Group, so on Monday a Russian court blocked the service’s access to the broadcast of these matches.
The lawsuit was filed in August, but it became known on December 16. After that, Rambler stated that he was allegedly negotiating a settlement agreement with the defendant. This was later denied by Twitch itself.
A similar story happened in the case between Rambler and Nginx: the former dropped charges against the latter after spreading information in the media. But, since the case is criminal, the authorities cannot close it because of the “reconciliation of the parties”.
