Good news. The Rambler Board of Directors decided to stop the criminal prosecution of Nginx. He will soon make an appropriate appeal to law enforcement agencies.
This decision was made as part of an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Directors, which was held today, December 16. It was convened at the initiative of the first deputy chairman of the Board of Sberbank Lev Khasis, who heads the Board of Directors of Rambler.
According to Medusa, the board of directors also decided that Rambler will no longer work with the law firm. Lynwood, which just appealed to the authorities on behalf of the Internet company.
At the same time, Rambler, as far as can be understood, is not going to give up the rights to Nginx yet. It’s just that the company is going to take future actions “within the framework of the civil law field.”
Anyway, according to Medusa’s sources, Rambler’s current decision to withdraw the charges will not be valid. Criminal cases initiated under Article 146 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of copyright and related rights”) are not terminated by the authorities in case of reconciliation of the parties. Then the investigation will independently decide whether the case is under the article or not.
