The revenue of developers with Google Play Pass will depend on the time that users spend in their games.

Yesterday Google announced its “answer” to Apple Arcade — the subscription service Play Pass. The general details of working with him became known almost immediately. There are no specifics, but there is already more information available than on the service of the “apple” company.

How will the revenue be calculated?

The following is reported on the official Android hub:

  • the amount of payments is affected by the time spent by subscribers of the service in the application;
  • it also takes into account how users generally evaluate all the presented content (from weather apps to runners).

At the same time, Google notes: the payment model is being rolled out now. The company is interested in “the projects that are most valuable from the point of view of users receiving the largest payments.”

What exactly is meant by “value” is not specified. Perhaps this means a fraction of the total time that users spent for a certain period in all Play Pass applications.

What else should I know about Play Pass?

Since the same APK supports both distribution in the Google Play Store and work with Play Pass, then you won’t have to connect anything large-scale to support the service. However, you will still have to integrate some APIs related to IAP and advertising.

Whether any developers will be able to connect to Play Pass in the future is an open question. So far, the service can be accessed only by invitation. However, you can apply for participation at this link.
