Video streaming service Twitch will start selling games and game content this spring. Viewers will be able to buy games directly during the broadcasts of their gameplay.
The platform promises to cooperate with large companies and independent developers. Such a move will not only open Twitch a new source of income, but also promises benefits to the authors of broadcasts. Members of the affiliate program will receive 5% of sales from their channel, 70% will go to the authors, and the remaining 25% will be taken by Twitch. Ubisoft, Telltale Games, Paradox Interactive and a number of other major publishers have announced their readiness to sell their games on the new site.
Twitch can compete with the main online gaming market Steam due to the huge subscriber base (about 10 million active users daily, according to the platform) and visual demonstration of the games sold through live broadcasts.
