Microsoft said that since yesterday, October 4, Windows 10 owners can upgrade their system to Windows 11 for free. The new operating system is positioned, among other things, as a gaming one.

As noted in the official Xbox blog, the new system received:

  • Auto HDR technology, which implements HDR support in thousands of game titles on DirectX 11 and DirectX 12;
  • the DirectStorage algorithm, which speeds up the loading of games. DirectStorage was previously introduced exclusively for the Xbox Series X and Series S;
  • built-in support for the Xbox app.

Recall that the presentation of Windows 11 took place for the first time in July of this year. Then, in addition to gaming functions, the company talked about such innovations as native support for Android applications, backward compatibility with Windows 10, reducing the size of updates and an updated interface.
