Google has announced the development of a new version of the Daydream VR headset that does not use a smartphone as a screen.
Clay Bavor, Vice President of the Google VR division, spoke about the next generation of Daydream VR at the annual Google I/O conference, which is taking place these days in California’s Mountain View.
The device is being developed jointly with HTC and Lenovo.
It is known that the new Daydream VR will be a wireless and standalone headset that does not require connection to a PC or console.
Google has not yet disclosed the technical specifications, price and release date of the headset.
The first generation of the Google Daydream View VR system costs $80 and requires a compatible smartphone, such as Google Pixel.
