Apple has acquired Vrvana startup for about $30 million, Techcrunch reports, citing internal sources.

Techcrunch clarifies that Apple declined to comment on Vrvana, but did not deny the fact of the transaction.

The Canadian company Vrvana has developed the Totem mixed reality headset, which has not been put into mass production. Judging by the reviews of testers, the creators of Totem managed to achieve a smooth combination of virtual and real images on the headset screen.

Recall that in early November, Bloomberg announced Apple’s intention to release its own AR headset by 2020.
