Today, on September 16, the ninth version of the operating system for Apple smartphones and tablets became available for download to mobile devices.
The first thing that users are likely to pay attention to is reducing the size of the operating system installer. If iOS 8 required a giant 4.58 GB to install, then the “nine” will have enough to upgrade 1.3 GB. Plus, of course, a readable font and the return of lowercase letters to the keyboard.
Happy owners of relatively new “Apple” tablets (iPad Air/iPad mini 2 or newer) we also got the opportunity to work in two programs at once at the same time (Slide Over and Split View functions are responsible for this).
From the interesting: a significant expansion of the functionality of notepad; an increase in battery life by an hour; the use of Metal by the operating system to work its own UI.
The “Nine” supports all Apple smartphones no older than iPhone 4S and all “Apple” tablets no older than iPad 2. You can update your device both via Wi-Fi and via iTunes Connect by connecting an iOS device to a computer.
