During 2022, Google plans to introduce several key changes to the Stadia gaming cloud service. We noted the main points of the report on Stadia, announced as part of the Google Games Summit.


Important: Google sees its task today as simplifying work with the service, lowering the entry threshold. She wants games to be easier to find and easier to launch. All changes are aimed at this.

  • Google will make it possible to visit the Stadia store without having to log in to it or create an account.
  • The game pages in the store will be easily located through Google search. The games themselves can be accessed by clicking from search results, YouTube and social networks.
    The Click to Play Trials feature will appear.
  • It will allow you to launch trial versions of games from the store by click (we are talking about 30-minute access to the game).
    Developers whose games are in the Stadia catalog will be able to add a link to its free trial version to the project page.
  • Google plans to expand the list of supported devices. Starting this year, Stadia will get access to Samsung TVs.
    Google is working on the technical component of Stadia to make it easier for developers to add games to the catalog.
  • To date, three main innovations are planned:
    — improved support for Unity and Unreal Engine for convenient and fast import of games into Stadia;
    — development of functionality for automatic transfer of DirectX libraries;
    — establishing the work of QA inside Stadia.
  • In June 2022, the company launches an affiliate marketing program to attract new users. Publishers advertising Stadia will receive $10 for each player who converts to a paid user of the service.
    Google has introduced Immersive Stream technology, thanks to which partner companies will be able to use the basic tools of Stadia.
  • This will allow them to conduct full-fledged game tests, include games in service packages and offer subscriptions for players.
    As a working case of Immersive Stream, Google talked about cooperation with the mobile operator AT& T last year.
  • AT&T offered its subscribers to play for free the cloud version of Batman: Arkham Knight, created with the support of Stadia technologies. To access the game, only authorization on the company’s website and a stable Internet were needed.
