The American company Atari has demonstrated the appearance of a new product — the Ataribox game console, announced at E3 this year.

The design of the Ataribox is a reference to the 1977 Atari 2600, which became the first mass-market game console in the world.

Ataribox borrows from its predecessor such elements as a ribbed body, a raised back and a front insert “under the tree”. There is also a version with a glass front.

The console is equipped with an SD card port, an HDMI connector and 4 USB inputs.

Atari plans to release Ataribox with a set of classic games of the company, just as Nintendo completes mini-versions of classic NES and SNES consoles with collections of popular titles for these platforms.

The company also mentioned “modern content” for the new console, but did not specify what exactly it implies.

There is no information about the price, release date and technical characteristics of Ataribox yet.
