Atari has responded to the criticism of players dissatisfied with the monetization of the mobile version of the construction simulator of the amusement park RollerCoaster Tycoon.
In the App Store, the game is rated 3.2 stars out of 5. Players are mainly dissatisfied with the “energy mechanics” of the game: construction, if you do not resort to payments, goes on for a very long time. At the same time, the game itself is distributed on a paid basis. The developers are asking for $2.99 for it.
Atari CEO Frédéric Chesnais, on the one hand, admitted that the team could have made a mistake. Moreover, he noted that “if necessary” Atari will make the necessary changes to the in-game economy.
At the same time, he did not fail to slap the players on the nose:
“The world was not created overnight. They (the players) rate a mobile game, and a mobile game cannot be a PC game… People are going crazy that we didn’t release a PC game first.”
While the players are frowning, the publisher is wondering whether it is necessary to pull off the same trick with micropayments in “big brother” on the PC. Well, just in case, it reminds you that games are not only entertainment, but also business.

It was founded in 1972, ceased to exist in 1996. At the beginning of the noughties, the Atari trademark was bought by the French publisher Infogrames. Actually, after that, the company changed its name to the acquired one. In January last year, the American division of Atari declared bankruptcy in order to separate from the European one. Atari is currently developing and publishing small console and mobile projects.
