Android developers will soon have another option on how to attract users to their applications. Google has announced plans to add the “Offers” tab to the Google Play navigation bar — among other things, it will display discounts on in-game items.

According to Google, users will be able to see discount ads both in installed applications and in those that “may like”. In total, four main types of offers will be displayed in the tab:

  • discounts on in-game items and on the games themselves;
  • discounts on movies and books;
  • information about apps with a free trial period;
  • information about applications that have free options. For example, free shipping or free rides.

Residents of the USA, India and Indonesia will be the first to use the new feature. Their “Offers” tab will appear in the coming weeks. Within a year, Google will make the tab available to residents of other countries.

Recall that last week Google officially launched a beta test of the desktop version of Google Play Games, a gaming product from the Google Play line. However, so far it is possible to launch mobile games on PC only in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan.
