The Ministry of Finance plans to create a Russian equivalent of the App Store and Google Play. The decision was made at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
Initially, it was planned to launch a new marketplace before the end of this year. According to the latest data, the release of the Russian store will take place in May.
According to the Minister of Information Technologies, Maksut Shadaev, work on the mobile store has already begun, it is being created with the help of Russian software. The service will work on the basis of the Android operating system.
The development of a domestic mobile store complies with the policy of import substitution and is a response to the sanctions imposed.
Earlier, the App Store and Google Play disabled payments for Russian users. Also, since February 24, the number of deleted Russian apps in the App Store has increased by 105%.
