Valve has added a feature to Steam that allows developers to specify the anti-cheat systems used on game pages.
The company explained that these changes were made at the request of developers and users who wanted more transparency about the anti-cheat services and additional software used in games.
The new feature will be mandatory for games where the anti-cheat has access to the operating system's kernel.
Valve emphasized that while marking less invasive anti-cheat systems is optional, it strongly recommends notifying players of any types of protection.
Developers will fill out this information themselves when publishing new projects on Steam. The platform will ensure that these details are updated on the pages of existing games as well.
Additionally, users will be informed in advance whether the anti-cheat utility will be removed along with the game or if they will have to delete it manually.
