Microsoft has signed an agreement with Ubisoft allowing it to distribute Activision Blizzard games through the cloud. As the corporation hopes, it will convince the British regulator to approve the deal with Activision Blizzard.
The agreement will take effect if Microsoft manages to complete the purchase of Activision Blizzard. Under its terms, Ubisoft will receive perpetual “cloud rights” to Activision Blizzard games that have already been released and those that will be released over the next 15 years. Ubisoft will be able not only to distribute these games, but also to sell licenses for them to other companies.
How much Ubisoft will pay for the “cloud rights” is not reported. Microsoft said only that the money will be transferred in a lump sum.
The British regulator has already announced that it intends to carefully study the agreement.
