GungHo Online Entertainment has announced that the number of Puzzle & Dragons downloads has grown to 2 million in the US. The Japanese plan to push it more actively in the future.
“The game has not yet achieved much success [in America], especially in comparison with Japan,” Kazuki Morishita, president of GungHo, said in an interview for Siliconera. “We will continue to fill it with new content, and we also intend to hold more events in the future. And, perhaps, to promote it more actively.”
The game took 3 months in the USA to earn the second million downloads. The first million in the States, the project took 8 months.
In Japan, the total number of Puzzle & Dragons downloads was more than 20 million . Another 1 million accounts for Korea.
“In terms of how the project is developing, we were very surprised at how well things are going. We did not expect this at all. Everything is fine, and we hope that after additional efforts on our part, more people will be able to play Puzzle & Dragons,” said Morishita.
Recall that Softbank and GungHo recently acquired 51% of Supercell shares, concluding a deal for $1.5 billion. The first owns 58% of the shares of the authors of Puzzle & Dragons.
