Square Enix has announced that it has sold over 7 million copies of the Final Fantasy VII remake since April 2020. This figure takes into account both physical shipments and digital sales.
The company sold half of the copies in the first three days after the release of the game. This made the remake of Final Fantasy VII one of the most successful PlayStation 4 releases. Its initial circulation was higher than that of games such as God of War (3.1 million copies) and Marvel’s Spider-Man (3.3 million copies).
Note that the circulation of the original Final Fantasy VII as of January 31, 2023 is 14.1 million copies.
