Valve has made changes to Steam regarding demos. Now their functionality on the platform has become much closer to ordinary games.

  • A new "Add to Library" button has appeared for demo versions. Demos sent to the library do not need to be installed immediately. Installation can be postponed to a convenient time.
  • You can install the demo version even when the full version of the game is already in the library.
  • The demo version can be manually removed from the account. To do this, right-click on it and click "Manage" > "Remove from Account." Demos deleted from the device will automatically disappear from the library.
  • Developers can create separate pages in Steam for demos with detailed descriptions, screenshots, and trailers. Thanks to this, users of the platform can now leave reviews for demos just like for ordinary games. If negative reviews become too numerous, the demo version's visibility on Steam will be reduced (with a large number of positive reviews, the opposite will happen).
  • Notifications in the form of emails about the release of demo versions have appeared. These will be sent to those who added the game to their wishlist or subscribed to the developer's or publisher's page.
