Valve has completely revamped the editor used for creating and editing game descriptions in the Steam store. They have named the updated tool "What You See Is What You Get."

According to Valve, developers can now see in real-time how the "About This Game" section changes as they work on it. The need to switch to preview mode has been eliminated.

Valve noted that developers can, if they wish, prepare a draft of the game description in an external text editor such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs and simply copy it into the Steam editor. The formatting (italicizing or bolding text, bullet lists, etc.) will be retained without any changes.

Additionally, Valve has added spell checking, support for standard text formatting keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+B for bold, and the ability to insert images directly into the editing field in the Steam game description editor.
