Sony will not compete with Nintendo Switch in the portable console market after weak demand for the PlayStation Vita handheld console outside Japan and Asia.
This was told by the president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Andrew House (Andrew House).
He noted that he does not see great prospects for portable consoles in the era of mobile games, when the smartphone became the main platform.
In this regard, Sony intends to develop mobile development, for which it opened the ForwardWorks studio last year.
According to House, the success of the Nintendo Switch has not affected sales of Sony games and consoles in any way.
He stressed that Sony’s gaming strategy is primarily focused on home gaming.
