We have already written about the Leviathan: Warships turn-based strategy and, in fact, we did not plan to write more at least until the release of the project. But Paradox Interactive surprised us with an unexpected approach to advertising.
Everything new is good, the old is forgotten. There was a time when marketing could be reduced to a successful video. Now, when they try to please the user with every component of the product, starting with the icon and ending with the absence of a price tag, they forget about it. And what kind of publisher needs dynamic cutting to cool music or a viral video if traffic is bought directly?
But the company Paradox Interactive was among those rare publishers who decided to enter the market the old-fashioned way. They launched a seemingly ordinary gameplay video, which demonstrates the gameplay, lists the features of the project. That is, it shows how giant sea vessels fight with each other, how they burn and explode … and all this is under the lounge, and the text is read out by the announcer in the style of George Michael.
Because of the resulting dissonance, the video catches, it immediately stands out among a whole galaxy of iOS projects. Yes, it is clear that the presence of a three-dimensional AAA-level strategy on the Apple platform is worth attention, but even this can be reduced to positioning.
Today, after all, many developers complain that it is difficult to become noticeable in the store, money is needed for promotion. But there’s a moment here: a gray game with a sleek setting (in which there is a drop from each hit sitting in the box office top) and an equally familiar gameplay is unlikely to become recognizable even with money.
So, yes, the Paradox Interactive approach is captivating. Enjoy your viewing.
