Recently, developers have been complaining that the game review process for publication on "Yandex Games" has been taking longer than usual. As the platform's team explained, it's all due to the sharp increase in the number of applications.

According to "Yandex Games" calculations, moderators currently receive 10,000 applications with new games per month, whereas last year the median was half as much — 5,000 applications. Moreover, the number continues to grow. The platform believes this is due to the popularity of vibe coding — game development has become easier, thereby increasing the flow of releases.

To manage the influx, "Yandex Games" decided to make changes to the application moderation process.

Specifically, the platform has already closed several loopholes that some developers were using to bypass others in the accumulated queue for review. For instance, it temporarily disabled the button to reset moderation. Additionally, the queue order has been made more fair and predictable overall.

In the future, the "Yandex Games" team aims to automate the processes as much as possible. According to them, currently, 72% of rejections are due to problematic UI and SDK, as well as technical flaws. The platform believes that detecting all these issues can be automated to filter out "obviously non-working or unready games". While the tools are still in development, "Yandex Games" hopes that their launch will significantly speed up moderation.
