According to Kommersant, they are going to found a company in Russia that will develop a mobile operating system based on Android. The founders will be VK, Yandex, Sberbank and Rostelecom with the support of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.
The new company will also work on an analogue of Google Mobile Services — a set of pre-installed applications for the OS.
It is assumed that this OS will be designed for the consumer segment, unlike Rostelecom’s Aurora. The latter is planned to be used in the corporate and government segments “to work with sensitive data.”
