Embracer Group may sell Gearbox Entertainment, sources tell Reuters. The company turned to consultants after it received a purchase offer from “third parties”.

Among the potential buyers, the sources name international gaming groups. It is unknown how much Embracer Group expects to receive for Gearbox Entertainment.

Embracer Group declined to comment to Reuters on the sources’ information.

The Borderlands authors became part of the Embracer Group in 2021. Under the terms of the deal, Embracer Group immediately transferred $363 million to the company and promised to pay another $1.02 billion if Gearbox Entertainment achieves the necessary financial goals in the coming years.

Recall that in early September it became known that Embracer Group reduced the staff of Gearbox Publishing, the publishing division of Gearbox Entertainment.
