Gearbox Publishing is another company in the Embracer Group, which suffered from the restructuring of the holding. As the Game Developer portal noted, some of its employees have recently been reduced.
Officially, the dismissals were not reported. They became known from the publications of former employees of Gearbox Publishing on LinkedIn.
Apparently, Gearbox Publishing warned employees about the upcoming layoffs back in June: then the first messages from developers appeared on social networks. It is unknown how many people have lost their jobs.
The Volition studio is also located under the wing of Gearbox Publishing’s parent company, Gearbox Entertainment. Yesterday Volition announced its closure after 30 years of operation.
