The German company b-interactive has announced a cross-platform version of the classic checkers game, which provides an online game from any smartphone running Windows Phone, iOS, Android or PC.
Cross-platform is provided by Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud solution. According to Stephan Pepersack, product manager of the German division of Microsoft, “the logic of the game, its backend, is provided by the Windows Azure cloud service, and thanks to open interfaces, the game will be accessible from any device.”
The game is expected to appear in the corresponding stores in mid-June. Checkers will be followed by other classic board games, such as Yantzee (dice poker), Mill, Ludo and others.
