On January 1, 2024, the age limit for IT specialists to receive a deferral from conscription will rise from 27 to 30 years. The corresponding order was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
To get a postponement, a specialist must work under an employment contract in an accredited IT company for at least 11 months before the start of the draft. If an employee got a job in the company within a year after graduation, he will not be subject to the requirements for the length of service.
Also, the specialist must have an appropriate higher education for IT. Recall that as of September 2022, there were 195 positions in the list approved by the authorities with priority for IT specialties. Among them are “Computer Science”, “Mathematics”, “Radio Engineering”, “Architecture” and “Linguistics”.
