Google has named the contenders for the annual Play Awards 2017.
This year, the award is presented in 12 categories, including 4 new ones: “best VR and AR experience”, “best multiplayer game”, “best social effect and “best available app”. The latter includes applications or games that allow people with disabilities to interact.
The nominees are evaluated according to criteria such as Google Play rating, performance and novelty (the release or large-scale update of the application must be no earlier than April 2016).

Outstanding Indie Game: Games from indie developers that focus on artistic design, gameplay mechanics
The Best VR experience: The most exciting and immersive experience of optimal use of Daydream UI
The Best AR Experience: Apps and games that creatively use Augmented Reality technology
The Best App for Kids: Apps or games that encourage creativity, research and education
The best multiplayer: projects created to involve gamers in competitions and joint play
The best game: games with strong mechanics and excellent graphics, exciting and retaining gamers
The winners of the Play Awards will be announced at the annual Google I/O 2017 conference, which will be held on May 18.
