The social network announced a change in its policy regarding developers and advertisers using Facebook to collect personal information about users.

According to the new rules, the creators of applications and ads can no longer use the personal data of the Facebook audience to track their activity and use this information for their own purposes.

“In the last few months, we have used enforcement measures against developers who create and promote surveillance tools in violation of our policy,” explained Rob Sherman, Facebook’s deputy chief privacy Officer.

Since last year, the American company has changed its advertising policy, prohibiting credit institutions from relying on user data when making decisions about approving or refusing a loan. Facebook also banned advertising of “payday loans”.

According to the Statista service, Facebook remains the most popular social network in the world with a monthly audience of 1.87 billion active users.
