Steam has introduced a special page with personal year-end summaries for 2025. In addition to individual stats, it also displays certain general figures about the platform. For instance, you can see how users' total gameplay time on Steam was distributed among projects from different years.

The breakdown of gameplay time in 2025 is as follows:

  • Only 14% of the time was spent on new releases from 2025;
  • 44% of the time was spent on games released between 2018 and 2024;
  • Games older than seven years accounted for 40% of the time;

Compared to last year, the share of time spent on fresh releases has decreased slightly. In 2024, Steam users spent 15% of their time on new games. When compared to 2023, this percentage has actually increased, as the share was only 9% then. In any case, whether two years ago or now, gamers mainly prefer playing projects from previous years.

The Steam statistics also revealed that, on average, users launched just four games in 2025. This number has remained unchanged since 2023. The median number of achievements earned over the year was 11, and the median number of consecutive gaming days was six.
