Game developers from Hamburg have a chance to receive a grant for the creation of a game prototype. Gamecity Group:Hamburg, with the support of the authorities, is ready to invest up to 80 thousand euros in various projects.
This was reported by gamecity itself:Hamburg, a member of the city committee for the development of the creative economy. She also announced the date of the first round of candidate selection: March 31 — May 25.
The group is ready to cover up to 80% of the costs of creating a prototype of the game (a version that can be played and which will demonstrate the basic mechanics and technical implementation). The remaining 20% must be invested by the team itself. The grant for one prototype cannot exceed €80 thousand.
To receive this grant, the developer must:
- be based in Hamburg or move one of its branches here;
- maintain a staff of no more than 250 people and earn no more than €50 million per year;
- prove that the prototype can be implemented with a grant;
- provide a market analysis that shows that the game is potentially interesting to its target audience.
The advantage in the selection process can be obtained by newly created, developing studios.
Gamecity Group:Hamburg is engaged in the support and development of local gaming entrepreneurship. Now funds from the city budget are distributed among its participants.
In general, the second largest city in Germany seriously supports the local industry: it will invest more than €2 million in it until 2023. Germany itself, at the federal level, is also actively financing game dev.
