Until 2023 inclusive, the second city Germany is going to allocate €520 thousand annually for the development of the gaming industry.
The funds will be distributed among businesses that are members of the Gamecity group:Hamburg. The latter is engaged in the support and development of local entrepreneurship.
Of the indicated €520 thousand:
- €400 thousand will be used to finance prototypes, which will be launched in the second half of 2020. Each grant for a game prototype will not exceed €80 thousand. But a quarter of the costs of the prototype are to be paid by the developers themselves. By the way, according to the program, only studios with a permanent office in Hamburg will be held.
- €15 thousand will be allocated to support gaming teams in a separate business incubator, which is Gamecity:Hamburg is just planning to launch. It is assumed that it will include up to five teams at a time. The program for each participant of the incubator will last three months. It will include employment, training and financing.
To receive grants or participate in a business incubator, developers can apply on the website until March of this year. It is noted that any project can receive support, regardless of the age rating, notes Gamesindustry.biz .
It is worth adding that in Germany as a whole, they have actively taken up the financing of game development. Not only in Hamburg alone, but also at the federal level, the authorities began to support the gaming industry. Every year, the country’s budget will be allocated €50 million for this purpose.
