The founders and managers of Ubisoft increased their stake in the company by 3.2%, buying 3.6 million shares from Bpifrance. They spent €122.5 million on this.
This is not the first purchase of Ubisoft shares by the Guillemot family. In September, the share of their participation was increased by 3.5%.
Such actions are aimed at protecting the company from acquisition by Vivendi, which earlier this year carried out a hostile takeover of Gameloft, also previously founded and managed by Guillemot.
The Guillemot family (Guillemot Brothers holding) currently owns 13.22% of Ubisoft. Vivendi’s share is 22.8%, but Giymo accounts for 19.18% of votes on the Ubisoft board of directors.
