Mobile games in the Star Wars universe have earned more than $1 billion over the past six years. The lion’s share of the amount fell on the Electronic Arts title.

Sensor Tower analysts evaluated the metrics of the “Star Wars” games available on iOS and Android. The highest-grossing of them by a large margin was Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes from EA.

Top Earning Games

  • Galaxy of Heroes’ revenue was $924 million. This is 87% of the billion earned by games. According to analysts’ forecasts, next year she alone should reach her own earnings of $ 1 billion. The game was released at the end of 2015.
  • The second in the top is Star Wars: Commander (Zynga). Its result for five years is $93 million, that is, 9% of the total amount.
  • The third with earnings of $ 11 million (1%) was LEGO Star Wars: The Complet Saga (Warner Bros.). It was released in the App Store in 2013, and in Google Play two years later.

Income by country and store

  • $640 million of the total billion was accounted for by US players. This is 61% of the amount. Users from Germany spent $66 million (6%) in Star Wars mobile games, and $57 million (5%) came from the UK.
  • According to the stores, users’ spending was distributed almost equally: $534 million in the App Store and $524 million in Google Play.

Downloads by country and store

The total installations of games over these six years amounted to 273 million. A quarter of them (70 million) came from Galaxy of Heroes. Another 60 million installations were generated by Angry Birds Star Wars and Angry Birds Star Wars 2 from the Finnish Rovio.

  • The USA is the leader in the top three countries in terms of installations. They accounted for 64 million unique installations (24%). Russia is the second with a result of 21.5 million (8%). Brazil is the third, with 17 million installations (6%).
  • The largest share of installations is in Google Play. This is about 172 million or 63%. The remaining 100 million downloads are collected in the App Store.

Note that Sensor Tower predicts a jump in revenue and installations of Star Wars games in December. This is due to the release of the movie “Skywalker: Sunrise”. Since 2015, almost all movie premieres in the franchise have had a positive effect on player spending, analysts say.
